I really wanted this little guy to be emerging from the depths of the fig wallpaper background. I love the character of these dogs… I hope you enjoy him too ☺️

I am so happy and excited to be the recipient of the Montauk Lighting Co. Award at this year’s @thelesterprize.
It’s hard to describe how validating this recognition has been, a heartfelt thank you to the judges.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the last few days immersed in a melting pot of highly talented and professional artists as we proudly show our best work to the beautiful city of Perth.
The team at The Lester Prize, its sponsors and the board have been nothing short of super hosts, making all the finalists feel like rockstars.

This weeks challenge - a little dachshund portrait in oils…
I am still blown away by how one tiny white dot can have more impact than days of carefully placed paint…
I will start on the background tomorrow.
Looking forward to hearing what you think so far…

A shot of me using white paint… just so you know I am still here….
After some serious struggle, I finally decided my only option was to paint over the many hours of background work on this pony…
I have been battling for days and days and just making things gradually worse and worse…
Sometimes, when I keep painting, it starts to behave, this time, it was a definitive fail…
Don’t worry… I already have another idea I just need it to hurry up and dry…
Back soon x
